This Indenture made this tenth day of October in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and three between We Joseph Sharply & Zeporah his wife of the County of Accomack in the Commonwealth of Virginia of the one par and William Sharply of the County afsd in commonwealth aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Sharply and Zeporah his wife in consideration of the sum of five pounds lawfull money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said William Sharply at and before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents have granted bargained and sold & by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said William Sharply him and his heirs forever, and no other use whatever the land lying on Jingoteague Island, to wit one half of the tract or parcel of land contained in the deed given from Joshua Wheetton decd to Joseph Sharply decd as will more fully appear by the said deed reference being had these then unto from the records of Accomack County containing fifteen Acres of land To have and to hold the above granted Acres More or less with all rights priviledges and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said William Sharply to him & his heirs forever ro and for the use & behoof of the said William Sharply him and his heirs forever, In testimony whereof the said Joseph Sharply and Zeporah his wife have hereunto set thier hands & affixed their seal this day and year aforesaid

The Commonwealth of Virginia to Walter Bayne David Watts & William Downing Gentlemen Justices of Accomack county Greetings Whereas Joseph Sharply and Zeporah his wife have by thier certain indenture of bargain & Sale bearing date the tenth day of October in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and three sold and conveyed unto William Sharply fifteen acres of land with the appurtenances lying and being in the County of Accomack and lying on Chincoteague Island & part of a tract or parcel of land which Joseph Sharply decd bought of Joshua Wheeton decd And whereas the said Zeporah Sharply cannot conveniently travel to our District Court to be holden at Accomack Court house to make acknowledgment of said indenture therefor we do give you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Zeporah shall be willing to make before of the conveyance aforesaid containd in Said indenture which is hereto annexed and we do therefore command you that you do personally go to the said Zeporah and examine her privily and apart from her said husband Joseph Sharply whether she doth the same freely and Voluntarily without his persuasion or threats and Whether she be willing that the same should be recorded in our said District Court and receive her acknowledgment of the said when you have examined and received her Acknowledgment as aforesaid that you distinctly and openly certify to us thereof in our said Court under your Seals Sending then there the said indenture and this writ Witness Edmund Bayly Clerk of our said Court at our said Courthouse the 31st day of August 1803 in the 28th year of the Commonwealth
