This Deed mad this 31st Day of July Anno Domini One thousand seven hundred & Ninty Eight between Henry Custis of Accomack County and State of Virginia of the one part and Susanna Custis of the same place of the other part Witnesseth That the said Henry Custis for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Shillings current money of the state aforesaid in Specie in hand paid by the said Susanna Custis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hat given, granted, bargained and Sold and Do by these presents give grant, bargain Sell and Confirm unto the said Susanna Custis during her natural life, that tract of Land and Mills that I purchased of Mr. Jas Wharton, likewise the lands I purchased of Nathl Litt Savage which land and Mills be on Guilford in the Parish of Accomack and County To have and to hold the said plantation and Mills unto her the sd Susanna Custis during her Natural life to the only purpose use benefit and behoof of the said Susanna Custis and the Said Henry Custis doth Covenent that he hath a good and clear Estate in fee simple to the said plantation and Mills and that he the said Henry will for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators Warrent and defend the said lands and Mills against the Lawful Claim Title or Interest of all persons during the natural life of the said Susanna Custis In Testimony whereof the said Henry Custis hath set his hand and affixed his Seal the Day and Year first above written,
