Deed from John Robins and Elizabeth his wife to Nathaniel Burwell -1 June 1789 - Transcribed by Gail M. Walczyk
This indenture made the first day of June in the year of Our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine between John Robins and
Elizabeth his wife of the Parish of Yorkhampton and County of York of
the one part and Nathaniel Burwell the younger of the same County of
the Other part, Witnesseth that the said John Robins and Elizabeth his
wife for and in consideration of the sum of Six hundred pounds current
money of Virginia in hand paid by the said Nathaniel Burwell the
younger to the said John Robins at or before the ensealing and delivery
of these presents, the receipt whereof the said John & Elizabeth do
herby Acknowledge have granted bargained, sold alned released and
Confirmed, and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release
and Confirm unto the said Nathaniel Burwell the younger, a certain
tract, piece, or parcel of Land lying and being situate in the parish
of Hungars in the County of Northampton known by the name of Huntington
and containing by estimation Four hundred and ten acres, be the same
more or less, bounded and limited, according to the Plat hereof,
hereunto annexed as Surveyed in the year 1785 by a certain Nathaniel
Tyson deputy Surveyor of Northampton County (excepting thereout a piece
of the aforesaid tract of Land containing by estimation one hundred and
twenty two acres which the said John Robins hath bargained and sold to
a certain Mr. Thomas Notingham the elder before the ensealing and
delivery of these presents, and also excepting thereout the right,
which a certain Elizabeth Robins widow and relict of John Robins
deceased hath in and to One third part of the afore mentioned tract of
land, for and during the term of her natural life, as her dower and no
longer) together with the appurtenances and revision right Title
interest claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Robins and
Elizabeth his wife in and to the said tract of Land or any part thereof
To have and to hold all and singular the before granted premises with
the appurtenances to the said Nathaniel Burwell the younger, his heirs
and assigns for ever And the said John Robins and Elizabeth his wife
for themselves their heirs an assigns all and Singular the before
granted premises with the appurtenances unto the said Nathaniel Burwell
the younger his heirs and assigns, Shall and will forever warrant and
defend against the Claim of all persons whatsoever by these presents.
In Witness whereof the said John Robins and Elizabeth his wife have
hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above
written

a Court held for the District Composed of the Counties of Accomack and
Northampton at Accomack Courthouse on thursday the 15th of October
1789. This indenture of Bargain and Sale was proved by the Oaths of
John Smith, Walter Burwell and Richard Haywood Witnesses thereunto and
Ordered to be Recorded
