This Indenture made this 1st day of October in the year of our Lord one
thousand Seven hundred and ninety Six, between John Evans of the County
of Accomack in the Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and George
Gladding of the County & State aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said John Evans for and in consideration of the sum
of thirty pounds lawful money of the State aforesaid by the said George
Glading to the said John Evans in hand paid at & before the Sealing
and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof the said John Evans
doth hereby acknowledge and the the said George Glading thereof acquit
& discharge, hath granted bargained & sold & by these
presents dot grant, bargain & sell unto the said George Glading,
his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate
lying and being in the Parish and County of Accomack, it being part of
a tract & was devised to the said John Evans by his Father John
Evans containing by estimation Ten acres be the same more or less and
bounded as follows on the North by the lands of the heirs of Robert
Parks decd beginning at a small Persymmon tree, and running Southerly
to a large Gum Stump from the said Stump to the Corner of John Wests
land and from thence runing down said Wests lands to Back Creek branch,
To have and to hold the said land & appurtenances to the said
George Glading his heirs and assigns forever to the only purpose and
behoof of the said George Glading his heirs & assigns forever &
to or for no other use intent or purpose whatever And to the said John
Evans for himself his heirs Executors & admrs the hereby granted
land & appurtenances unto the said George Glading his heirs assigns
against the claim of the said John Evans & his heirs & against
the claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall
& will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony
whereof the parties to this Indenture have hereto se their hands &
affixed their Seals the day & Year first above written

This Deed from John Evans to George Gladding was acknowledged by the
