This Indenture
made the Thirty First Day of January in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Seven Between Josiah Lewis of Accomack County in Virginia Planter of the One Part and James Berry of the same Place Merchant of the other part Witnesseth the said Josiah Lewis for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty One Pounds Sixteen Shilling Current Money of Virginia to him in Hand paid by the said James Berry at Or before the Execution hereof the Receipt whereof he the said Josiah Lewis doth hereby Acknowledge and in therewith Content Hath Granted Bargained and Sold and by these Presents Doth Grant Bargain and Sell unto the said James Berry his Heirs or Assigns for ever a Certain Tract of Parcel of Land Situate Lying and being in the afsd County of Accomack bounded as follows, Vizt Southerly & Westerly & Northerly On the Lands of Edward Gunter and John Bull and North Eastly On the Lands of Cornelius Ironmonger and on the Land of Thomas Cropper being the Lands where on the said Josiah Lewis & James Berry Now Lives Containing by Estimation Three Hundred & Forty Five Acres To have and to hold the said Three Hundred & Forty Five Acres of Land with All and Singular the Appurtenances thereto belonging to him the said James Berry his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to and for no Other Use Intent or Purpose Whatsoever, and the said Josiah Lewis doth hereby Covenant premises & agree to and with the said James Berry his Heirs Assigns that the before Mentioned to be granted Lands & Premises with the Appurtenances to the said James Berry Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns against him the said Josiah Lewis Heirs Executors and Administrators and Every other Person Claiming Title thereto Will Warrant and the same forever Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Josiah Lewis hath set his Hand & Seal the Day & Year first above WrittenJosiah Lewis
