This Indenture
made and taken this the 2th Day on January Anni Domini One Thousand and Seven Hundred and sixty seven Between Thomas Wise Rodgers and Anne his wife of the One Part and William sreaves of the Other Part and each of the county of Accomack and Colony of Virginia Witesseth that the said Thomas Wise Rodgers and Anne his Wife for and in Consideration of the sum of Seventy Pounds Current Money of Viefinia to them in Hand Paid the said William Sreaves before the Sealing and Delivery hereof the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged have Bargained and Sold and by these Presents do give grant Bargain and Sell unto the said William Sreaves his Heirs Or Assigns for the Dyration of the Natural Life of a Certain Thomas Evans A Certain tract Or Parcel of Land which the said Thomas Wise Rodgers Bought of the siad Evans Situate Lying and Being in the County Aforesaid and Bounded as followeth to wit On Rodger Abot and Thomas Rileu, Mc Williams Right and William Savage and On George Dick and from thence to the Land of the siad Abbott Containing Eighty Acred be the same more or Less To have and to Hold the said hereby Bargained and sold Premises to the said William Shreaves his Heirs Assigns for the Life of the said Thomas Evans Senr to the Only Proper use of the said William Shreaves his Heris and Assigns for Life of the said Evans, we do hereby, Covenant give Grnat that we, the said Thomas Wise Rodgers and Anne his Wife at and before the Sealing and Delivery hereof hath goodright and full Authority to Bargain and Sell the said hereby Granted and have Sold the Premises to the said William Shreaves his Heirs and Assignes and we the said Thomas Wise Rodgers & Anne his Wife for Oursleves Our Heirs and Assignes Do hereby furthere Covenabt with the said William Shreaves his Heirs and Assignes for the life of the said Evans with all the Appurtenances Thereto Belonging and wer the said Thomas Wise Rodgers & Anne his Wife for Our Selves Our Heirs Executors and Administrators the said hereby Given Granted Bargained and Sold Premisses with all the Appurtenances to the said William Shreaves his Heirs and Assigns for the Life of the said Thomas Evans against all Persons Claiming from and Under us the said Thomas Wise Rodgers & Anne his wife for OUr his Heirs and Assignes for the Life of the said Evans Shall and will Warrant and Defend by these Presents and against all Other Persons Whatsoever N.B. This Land was given by a Certain Sesar Evans to his Two sons Thomas Evans and Hillery Evans for their Lifetimes and the Longest Liver to take all for his
Life Therefore the Deed Includes the while Land in the Case of Hillery Evans Death We the said Thomas Wise Rodgers and Anne his Wife Do not Pretend to Entitle the said William Shreaves to Any More of the siad Land then the Part the Thomas Evans did Hold Except Hillery Evans Should Die before his Brother Thomas Evans then the said Shreaves During the Life of Thomas Evans

At a Court held for Accomack County June 30th 1767 Yhe within Indenture from Thomas Wise Rodgers and Anne his Wife was presented & proved to be the act and Deed of the said Thomas Wise Rodgers to William Shreaves by the Oaths of John Dix Senr, Elijah Liliston & George Dix Witnesses thereto And the saime being Acknowledged by the said Anne as her Act & Deed is Admitted to Record, She being firs Privately Examined as the Law Directs & Voluntarily Consented
