This Indture made this fifteen Day of Novembe in ye Second Yeare of the Reigne of our Soverainge Lord George of Great Britain france & Ireland King Defender of the faith &c and in ye yeare of our Lord God One Thousand Seven hundred and fifteen Between Wm Miles of Accomack County in ye Colony of Virginia Carpenter & Mary his wife of the one part and William Jenkins of Somersett County in ye Provience of Maryland planter of the Other part Wittnesseth that whereas Charles Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provience of Maryland Did by his Patten Grant unto William Stevens of Somersett County Esqr Deceased all that Percell or Tract of Land Caled Winter Quarter bearing Date the 24th Day of June Anno Domi 1675 The said Land Situate Lying & being in Somersett County on the East side of Chesesepeke bay one the Southside of Pocomoke River Near Naswadtox Bonded as followeth begining at a marked Oake Standing Neare ye Side of the said River thence with a line Drawn North East half a pint Easterly up ye sd River for a bredth Ninety Perches to a marked Hickory thence with a Line Drawn South East half a pint Easterly into the Woods for Length five Hundred thirty three perches & 1/3 part of a Perch to a marked Oake thence with a Line Drawn South Westt half a Point Westerly Ninty perches to a marked Pine and from thence With a Right Line to ye first bounder Containing three Hundred Acres More or Less To Have and To Hold the Same unto him ye The sd William Stevens his heirs & assigns for Ever and Where as the said William Stevens & Elizabeth his Wife by An Indenture Under Theire hands and Seals bearing Date ye fifth Day of Noveme Ano Dom 1677 did Give Grant bargain Sell and Deliver unto Josias Seward and Walter Lane of Somersett County and Providence of Maryland all ye afforsd percell of Land Called Winter Quarter for the Consideration of four Thousand pounds of Tobbacco To Have and To Hold the same unto them the said Josias Seward And Walter Lane theire heirs and Assigns for Ever and Whereas ye sd Josias Seward and Margrett his wife and Walter Lane Did by an Indenture under theire hands & Seals bearing Date ye 11th Day of October Ano Domi 1680 Did Give Grant bargain Sell and Confirm unto Jno Parker of Accomacke County in the Colony of Virginia all the sd Percell of Land caled Winter Quarter To have and To Hold The same unto him the sd Jno Parker his heirs & Assigns for Ever and Whereas ye sd Jno Parker did in his Last Will & Testament bearing Date in Accomack County Above said the 9th Day of January Ano Domi 1692 give & bequeath all the above percell of Land caled Winter Quarter To Have and To Hold The same to him ye sd William Parker his heirs & assigns for Ever and Whereas the said William Parker for ye consideration of Eight Thousand Pounds of Tobbacco did by Deed Indent and Confirm unto William Whittington of Somersett County Esqr The sd percell of land Caled Winter Quarter To have and To hold the same unto him ye sd Wm Whittington and to his heirs & assigns for Ever And whereas The sd William Whittington Esqr & Mrs. Hannah his Wife for The consideration of Twelve Thousand pounds Tobbacco Did by deed Indent and Confirm unto William Demcem bearing Date The Sixteenth Day of September Anno Domi 1703 all the said Percell of Land Caled Winter Quarter To Have and To Hold the same unto him the sd William Dencem his heirs & Assigns for Ever and Whereas the sd William Dencem and Elizabeth his Wife Did by theire Deed Indent unto William Whittington bearing Date the 22d Day of March Ano Domi 1704/5 Liber PI Fol: 103 all that percell of Land Caled Winter Quarter To Have & To hold The same unto his ye sd William Whittington his heirs & Assigns for Ever And Whereas the sd William Whittington and Elizabeth his Wife for the Consideration of Thirteen Thousand pounds of Tobbacco by their Deed Indent and Confirm unto William Miles above sd bearing Date the 4th Day of June Ano Domi 1714 Recorded in Liber JK Fol:100: 101: 102 LL the Above mentioned percell of Land caled Winter Quarter To Have and To Hold The same unto him the same unto him the said William Miles and to his heirs & assigns for Ever Now This Indenture ffurther Witnesseth That the sd Wm Miles and Mary his Wife for Divers Good Causes and Considerations them hereunto Moveing but more Especially for the Sum of five Thousand four hundred pounds of Tobbacco Paid by the above Named William Jenkins before the Ensealing & Delivery hereof Whereof the sd William Miles And Mary his Wife Doe hereby Acknowledge themselves fully and Wholy Sattisfied contented & paid and have for themselves & theire heirs Acquitted Exonerated and Discharged the sd William Jenkins his heirs Executors & Admins for Ever have Given Granted bargained Sold Allinated Enfeofed Conveyed Confirmed and Delivered and Doe by These presents Give Grant bargain Sell Alinate Enfe of Convey Confirm and Deliver unto him the sd William Jenkins and to his heirs & assignes for Ever two hundred Acres of Land taken outt of the above tract or percell of Land Caled Winter Quarter The sd Five Hundred Acres of Land Bounded as ffolloweth Begining at a marked White Gum Standing in the Westt Side of a branch near a foot path that leads Over sd branch Where an Old tan house Was borned down thence from the sd Gum runing alongst the West Side of the sand branch Including the maine body of the sd branch binding with Isaac Brittinghams one hundred Acres of land taken outt of sd Tract caled Winter Quarter untill itt mett With the South Westt side line of the sd Tract Caled Winter Quarter thence runing along the sd Line into the Woods to the Exten of the sd Line to a markd Pine thence Runing the head Line of the sd Land Caled Winter Quarter Nintey perches to a marked Oake Above sd thence runing Alongst the North East Side Line of the sd Tract Caled Winter Quarter to the aforsd Withe Gum Containing by Estimation two hundred Acres More or Less To Have and To Hold the sd two hundred Acres of Land to him the sd William Jenkins & to his heirs and Assigns for Ever Without Any Mortgage Redemption use or limitation to recall Alter Change or Determine the same With a ll itts Rights profits benefits & Priviledges Whatsoever thereunto (belonging Royall Mines Excepted) free & Clear Freely & Clearly Acquitted Exonerated and Discharged of & from all and All manner of former and Other bargains grants Seals for fitures Joynters Dowries Surrenders and of & from all Other titles Incumbrances Claimes and Demands Whatsoever Soo Yt he the sd William Jenkins and his heirs and Assigns Shall & May form hence forward and for Ever have hold Occupy possess & Injoy ye Sane peaceably and quietly from the sd William Miles and Mary his Wife and theire heirs for Ever as they the sd William Miles & Mary his Wife & thiere heirs Will for Ever Warrant & Defend the sd two hundred Acres of Land 7 premises bargained & sold to him the sd William Jenkins and to his heirs & Assigns for Ever from any person or persons Whatsoever Laying Claime to the Whole or Any part or percell thereof from by or under them the sd William Mile & Mary his Wife or their heirs or Any Other person or persons Whatsoever & they the sd William Miles & Mary his Wife doo further promise and Grant to & for themselves and their heirs that they shall and Will from time to time and at all times hereafter for & Dureing the term and time of Seaven Years Now Next Ensuing the Date hereof at & upon the Reasonable Requestt Costt & charges in the law of his the sd William Jenkins hie heirs or their Counsell Learned in the Law make Doe Acknowledge Execute and pr formed all or Any Other Instrument in Writting by Conveyance or Any Other way thought Nesassary for the better Assuring Confirming and Conveying of the Abovesd Two hundred Acres of Land and premises to his the sd William Jenkins and to His heirs & Assigns for Ever In Confirmation and full [-----] of the [-----] of the above Written the Above Named William Miles and Mary his Wife hath to this present Indenture sett to their hands and Seales Giveing deed and State with full and peaceable Possession by Way of Livery and Seizen of In & to the Memorandum That this Day vizt the fifteenth Day of Novemb In the second Yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraign Lord George of Great Britton ffrance & Ireland King Defender of the faith & ye Ano Domi 1715 before us the Subscribers hereof two of his majesties Justices of the Peace of Somersett County Came the within mentioned William Miles & Mary his Wife in theire proper Persons parties to this Within Written Indenture and Did Acknowledge the Within receited two hundred Acres of Land and premises to be the Right of him the Within Named William Jenkins and to his heirs & Assignes of Ever According to form and manner of a Certain Act of Assembly of this Provience in this Case Made & Provided for Enrolling Conveyances &c And for This Acknowledgment Quitt Claime and Agreement the said William Jenkins hath given to them the said William Miles and Mary his Wife five Thousand four hundred pounds of Tobbacco
