This Indenture made this XXXI day of May in the year of our Lord MDCCLXXIV between Edmund Wise & Forque Savage his Wife of the County of Accomack in the Colony of Virginia of the one part, Farmer, and John Elliott of the same place of the other part, House Carpenter, Witnesseth that the said Edmund Wise and Wife for and consideration of the sum of Eleven pounds current Money of Virginia to him the said Edmund in Hand paid by the said John before the Execution hereof the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and Sold & by this presents do give grant bargain and Sell unto the said John Elliott his Heirs and Assigns forever, Five Acres and an half of land Situate lying and being in the County afsd. near the new Church adjoining Thomas Elliotts Land begining at a Small Chesnut Tree & Runing along the line between the said Thomas Elliott & the said Edmund to Clement Parker line thence along the said Parkers line to a marked Oak thence to the said Chesnut Tree so as to include five and an half acres with all the Privileges & appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the said hereby granted premisses with the appurtenances unto the said John Elliott his Heirs and Assigns and to or for no other Use intent or purpose Whatsoever: And the said Edmund for himself his Heirs & Assigns forever doth hereby Covenant promise and agree to & with the said John his Heirs and Assigns that the hereby granted premisses are free and Clear of and from a;; & every Incumbrances whatever (the Quitrents hereafter to grow due only Excepted) And that he the said Edmund his Heirs and Assigns Shall and will at all and every time & times Whatsoever make Do or Suffer at the proper Cost & Charge in the Law of the party requiring for the better Assuring the Premisses with the Appurtenances unto the said John his Heirs and Assigns in Fee simple as by him them his or their Council learned in Law shall be [-----] advised devised or required And the said Edmund for himself his Heirs & Assigns forever doth hereby further Covenant promise & agree to & with the said John his Heirs & Assigns that he the said Edmund his Heirs & Assigns the hereby granted premisses with the appurtenances unto the sia John his Heirs and Assigns agt all and every person & persons whatsoever Claiming or hereafter to lay Claim to the Premis or any part thereof will Warrent & forever defend by these presents In testimony whereof the said Parties have to this Presents set their Hands & affixed their Seals the day & year above Written

At a Court held for Accomack County May 31th 1774 - Edmund Wise - Fosque Savage Wise his Wife presented & acknowledged this Indenture as their Act & Deed to John Elliott & Admitted to Record the said Forque Savage being first privately Examined as the Law directs & Voluntarily Consented thereto
