The idea for this program arose from my appreciation of a feature of Carl J. York's genealogy program The Family Edge, which I used for a long time in the MS-DOS days. While the data for an individual in one's database was on screen, a simple press of the ALT-A combination popped up that person's ancestral chart at the bottom of the screen. Because of limited screen real estate at that time, the chart appeared in place of other data. By using the arrow keys one could navigate the tree and immediately view the data of parents, grandparents, etc., at the top.
Today's higher screen resolutions make it possible to provide similar functionality without overwriting any data on screen. The Genealogical Navi-Bauble provides this functionality while adding hyperlinks that make rapid navigation through the online database very easy.
