Know
all ye men by these presents that I Thomas Baker of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky and the County of Washington have for divers good causes and
considerations [-----] thereunto moving made and ordained constituted
and appointed and do by these presents make ordain constitute and
appoint my trustee friend Benjamin Gibbs of the Commonwealth and County
aforesaid my lawful Attorney in fact for me and in my name to make sale
of all such lands as I became entitled to by the death of my Father
George Baker deceased who inherited the said lands from his brother
William Baker deceased which said lands are situated in the State of
Virginia and county of Accomack Hereby giving and granting to my said
Attorney full power and authority to demand have and receive all
arrears of Rents or other profits which maybe due or be coming due to
me from the lands aforesaid and on the receipt thereof a full
acquittance to give also upon the sale of said lands a Deed or Deeds or
other writings to give in order to pass the estate thereof to the
purchase, giving to my said Attorney as full power in the premises as I
myself possess and ratifying confirming and allowing all his acts in
the premises to be as binding on me as if done by myself in person In
Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my Seal this
6th day of July 1801

County do certify that the above power of Attorney was acknowledged by
the above Thomas Baker unto said Benjamin Gibbs in our presents given
under our hands and Seals this 6 day of July 1801
