John Morris
[A190] Patent to John Morris for 300 acres, called a marshy island; it also was in the present Assateague Channel, and was described as near Oyster Creek which today is Oyster Bay. It became known as Morris Island, which it is still called [1951]. 1695 Patent to Morris Dennis [Dennis Morris] as having been deserted by John Morris (Whitelaw: 1383).
