Metompkin Meeting House

This Church was organized by Elijah Baker in 1785. William and Elizabeth Warner provided the 1/2 acre lot for it in 1790, and shortly after the first building was erected there. It was about a mile north of Zion Baptist Church.  A tornado distroyed the building in 1834 and in 1835 the Baptists of Modestown bought a lot near by for a new Church and some years later Zion Baptist Church was built on the the new site.

See the 1790 Survey for the church here.
