SOLOMON PARKS

Solomon Parks, son of Mark Parks of John and Tabitha Evans of John the Younger, was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1764.  Solomon died on 27 December 1831 (Soldiers and Sailors).

He married twice.  He first married circa 1789 in Accomack Co., VA.  The name of his first wife is unknown.  He married Nancy Killmon circa 1800 in Accomack Co., VA.  Nancy was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1777.  Nancy was the daughter of Mathew "Marthey" Killmon and Comfort Ewell.  SEE HOUSEHOLD 71.

In Mathew Killmon's will on 5 February 1805 in Accomack Co., VA, Nancy was named as heir.  It was proved on 29 June 1807.

Nancy died before 29 August 1853.  Nancy made a will on 19 February 1850 in Accomack Co., VA.  It was probated 29 August 1853 (Will Book 152).  An abstract reads:

To son Charles Parks all the property and estate that I now possess and all that may ever fall to me in any way as my rite, title and interest.  To him and his heirs forever.  And I do hereby exclude each and all of the rest of my children from any part or parcel of my estate whatsoever.  Son Charles Parks Exr.

In Mark Parks' will on 3 February 1776 in Accomack Co., VA, Solomon was named as an heir.  It was probated 26 March 1776 (Wills and Administrations 294).  An abstract reads:

To wife whole estate during her widowhood and then to my son John Parks all my land.  Balance of estate to be divided between the rest of my children, Mark, Rachel, Ann, Tabitha, Solomon, Comfort, Sacker.  Wife Exr.  Witt: Robert Turnall, John Only, Ezekiel Young. -  In order of probate: John Parks heir at law appeared by James Henry, his guardian.  Tabitha Parks, widow of testator qualified.

Solomon enlisted in the military circa 1781 in Accomack Co., VA, in the 11th Regiment (Soldiers and Sailors 13).  On 28 March 1821 Solomon Parks, age 57, declared, "that he was enlisted in the company of Captain Thomas Parker and served 18 months.  He applied for a pension on 7 May 1819 and that he has a wife Nancy, daughter Comfort age 18, son Charles 16, and a son Solomon age 11."

Solomon was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 Census in Accomack Co., VA (Powell).  The census reads: "Solomon Parks of Jobs Island, 1 male 10-16; 1 male 26-45: 3 females, 0-10; 1 female age 26-45."

He resided on Jobs Island, in Accomack Co., VA, in 1800 (Powell).

Solomon Parks and his first wife had the following child:

1 i. John Parks was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1800.

 

Solomon Parks and Nancy Killmon had the following children:

2 ii. Comfort Parks was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1802 (Soldiers and Sailors 13).

3 iii. Charles Parks was born circa 1805 (Soldiers and Sailors 13).  In Nancy Killmon Parks' will on 19 February 1850 in Accomack Co., VA, Charles was mentioned as an heir.

4 iv. Solomon Parks was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1810 (Soldiers and Sailors 13).  He married Margaret Killman on 7 February 1837 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman 222).  The record reads: "Solomon Parks to Margaret Killman on 7 February 1837.  Richard Young security."  Margaret was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1819.
