ARTHUR KILLMON
HOUSEHOLD 16
[NOT MENTIONED IN WHITELAW]
The only mention of Arthur Killmon to date is in Accomack County Processioners Returns 1796 -1816 For Accomack and St. George's Parishes where he only appears once in 1795 (Processioners Returns 22).
The procession reads in part:
Ninth District - Decr 26th 1795 - John Wharton, William Onions, Charles Drummond, & Geo. Russel, Geo. Clayton, William Thornton, William Younge, Mark Ewell, James Vessels Sophie Vessels, Solomon Ewell, Ephraim Vessels, Solomon Parks, Elizabeth Killman, Charles Taylor, Arthur Killman, John Parks, Thos Justice, William Lewis, Absolom Lewis, Chas Ewell, Geo. Ewell, Comfort Shrieves, Edward Killman, James Alworth, Thos Taylor, Southy Bell, William Younge, Charles Bagwell.
All the Procession Returns show is that he is over 21 and is considered a "freeholder". He is sitting between Charles Taylor and John Parks and one household away from Elizabeth Killmon, the widow of John Killmon (Nottingham 448). He is neither the son of John Killmon (448) nor Mathew Killmon (Miles 318). Both these men listed their children in their wills.
Other records show that this area was near or on Jobs Island. Elizabeth Killmon is shown living on Jobs Island in the 1800 census. She was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 Census in Accomack Co., VA (1800 1810 1820 Census 25). The text reads: "Elizabeth Killman (Jobs Island) 1 male 0-10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-26, 1 male 45+, 2 females 16-26, 1 female 45+." (25). In 1800 Charles Taylor was noted as of Jobs Island in the records of the Overseers of the Poor (Overseers of the Poor 116). The entry reads: "To Charles Taylor (Jobs Island) [for keeping] Sarah Hinman 03.10.00."
