BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
In 1883 Mr. and Mrs. William Cobb were the only Baptists living in the Cashville area when the Accomack Baptist Association emplyed H. N. Quisenberry.
It was his job to visit among Baptist families in the area not served by churches, and at Cobb's house.
On January 9, 1887, Broadway Baptist Church was organized with ten charter members, including William Cobb and his wife.
The church was built on land owned by B. T. Parker, the great-grandson of John Riley
Parker. It was dedicated in 1885 and the infant congregation held services in Andrews Chapel
Methodist Episcopal Church. The original building is still in use and has not been altered except for an
annex (Mariner 293).
