Broadway Neck and the Chesapeake Bay

Broadway Neck lies between Parkers Creek and Matchotank Creek and is bisected by Rt. 641 (Broadway) running northwest from Cashville.  The road makes a sharp left just before it would otherwise run into the Chesapeake Bay (indicated on the map by the blue "1").  The images below show the encroachment of the bay in this area.

The two photos below were taken in October, 2006, after a considerable amount of rain. The area shown is just to the left of the road shown in the two photos at above right.  The road visible in the photo of the Killmon-Broadway Cemetery was almost completely covered to a depth of up to 6 inches.  It is likely that the cemetery and the surrounding area will be under water within a very few years.
