Susanna Fisher, daughter of John Fisher and Mary, his wife, was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1738. She married Benjamin Phillips circa 1756 in Accomack Co., VA. Benjamin was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1731. Benjamin Phillips was the administrator of the estate of John Fisher dec'd. on 27 February 1770 in Accomack Co., VA (Nottingham). The text reads: "FISHER, JOHN, Jr. - Adm. his estate to Benjamin Philips - Isaac Philips & William Smith sec. - 27 Feb. 1770. On 27 March 1770 letters of administration were granted to Lawrence White as married the widow Ann." (Nottingham).
Benjamin was listed on the personal property Tax List for 1787 (Yantis-Schreiner 99). The record reads: 'Benjamin Phillips Sr. charged with the tax, 3 horses mares or colts, 12 cattle."
Benjamin made a will on 16 January 1795 in Accomack Co., VA. It was probated (Nottingham). An abstract of his will reads: "PHILLIPS, BENJAMIN, SR. - 16 Jan. 1795 - 29 Sept. 1795 - To wife Susanna Phillips whole estate for life & then to my son Jonathan Phillips, & should William Phillips Topping live to come to lawful age, my son Jonathan Phillips to pay him the sum of 10£. Witt: John R. Parker, Ruth Parker. Codicil: To son Benjamin Phillips all my land where I now live at his mother's death. Same witnesses. In order of probate: Jonathan Phillips qualified."
In 1795 in Accomack Co., VA, the boundaries of the lands of Michael Parker and Susanna Phillips were processioned (Walczyk 10). Among the land processioned were "Lines between Michael Parker & Susanna Phillips. Lines between Michael Parker & William Crowson. Lines between Michael Parker & Benjamin Phillips were processioned." NOTE: This land was between the mouth of Pungoteague Creek and Renney's Gut (now Underhill’s Creek) and north of the John Smith land. John Fisher left this piece to his daughter Susanna for life and then it was to go to her son Charles Phillips.
Susanna made a will on 11 September 1795 in Accomack Co., VA. It was probated 30 December 1799 (Nottingham). An abstract of her will reads: "PHILLIPS, SUSANNAH - 11 Sept. 1795 - 30 Dec. 1799 - To son Benjamin Phillips all right, title & interest in the lands I now hold that was given me by my father John Fisher. To daughter Margaret Mason. To daughter Mary Charnock. Son Benjamin Phillips, daughter Mary Charnock & daughter Margaret Mason residual legatees. Son Benjamin Exr. Witt: John R. Parker, Francis Boggs, Kendal Ames."
Susanna Fisher and Benjamin Phillips had the following children:
1 i. Benjamin Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1757. SEE HOUSEHOLD 6. He married Ruth Boggs, daughter of Francis and Ann, his wife. SEE HOUSEHOLD 12.
2 ii. Charles Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1758 and died before 1795.
3 iii. Jonathan Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1760. In Benjamin Phillips' will on 16 January 1795 in Accomack Co., VA, Jonathan was named as an heir. It was probated (Nottingham).
4 iv. Female Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1766. She married Garrett Topping circa 1784 in Accomack Co., VA. Garrett was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1759. SEE HOUSEHOLD 20.
5 v. Margaret Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1768. She married a Mr. Mason circa 1786 in Accomack Co., VA. He was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1761.
6 vi. Mary Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1770. She married a Mr. Charnock circa 1788 in Accomack Co., VA. He was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1763.
