Mary "Polly" Rodgers, daughter of William Tizeker, was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1773.
She married three times. She married Zerobabel Rodgers circa 1791 in Accomack Co., VA. Zerobabel was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1766. Zerobabel was the son of Zerobabel Rodgers and Matilda, his wife. Zerobabel died before 29 January 1793 (Wills and Administrations). Zerobabel registered to pay taxes on the 1787 Personal Property Tax List in Accomack Co., VA (Yantis 100). In Zerobabel Rodgers' will on 2 August 1787 in Accomack Co., VA, Zerobabel was named as an heir. It was proved 28 January 1789 (Wills and Administrations). An abstract of his will reads:
RODGERS, ZOROBABEL - 2 Aug. 1787 - 28 Jan. 1789 - To wife Matilda Rodgers whole estate during her widow & then to son Zorobabel Rodgers plantation where I now live & should both he & my son Thomas Wise Rodgers die without heirs then to my godson John Robison Waddy. To son Thomas Wise Rodgers 100 acres which I bought of Parker, & should both he & his brother Zorobabel die without heirs to my cousin George Raymond Riley, also the land I hold on Cedar Island. To son Zorobabel 21 acres in Penny Swamp. Sons Zorobabel & John Wise Rodgers residual legatees, & for want of heirs to my sister Elizabeth Waddy's children. Wife Matilda & sons Zorobabel & Thomas Wise Rodgers Exrs. Not witnessed. Proved by Joshua Taylor & Robert Twiford.
On 29 January 1793 the estate of Zerobabel Rodgers was administered to John Wise (Wills and Administrations). The text reads:
RODGERS, ZOROBABEL - On 29 Jan. 1793 letters of administration were granted to John Wise. Mary Rodgers, widow of Zorobabel relinquishing her right to qualify. John Custis & Noah Belote security.
The Procession of 1795, as it originally reads: "Lines between Thos Leatherberry & Polly Rodgers ... Lines between Thos B. Bradford & Polly Rodgers ... Lines between John Leartherberry & Polly Rodgers ... " (Processioners Returns).
She married Jacob Bird after December 1795 in Accomack Co., VA. See the orphans' accounts of William T. Rodgers.
Jacob was born circa 1764. Jacob was the son of Jacob Bird and Leah Edmunds. Jacob died before 15 December 1812 (Miles 63). Jacob was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 Census in Accomack Co., VA (Powell 5). The census reads: "Bird, Jacob (JACB) 1 male 0-10, 1 male 16-26, 1 male 26-45, 1 female 0--10, 1 female 16-16, 1 female 26-45. 16 slaves."
Whitelaw states: "1786 William Tizeker left all of this land to his daughter Mary; she married Jacob Bird, whom she survived, and she appears in the records as Polly Bird. 1808 Jacob and Polly Bird sold 25 acres east of the road to Anthony Mathews. 1814 Polly Bird, widow, sold 67 acres to Levin Joynes, it being southeast of the Mathews piece. 1829 207 acres were surveyed for a division of the Polly Bird estate" (Whitelaw 835).
In the 1804 Procession in Accomack Co., VA, the boundaries of the lands of Jacob Bird were processioned. The text reads: "Jany 6th - Lines between John Leatherberry Orphn & Jacob Bird ... Perry Leatherberry ... Lines between Jacob Bird & Stephn Warrington ... " (Processioners Returns).
Jacob was listed as the head of a family in the 1810 census in Accomack Co., VA (Powell 57). The census reads: "Bird, Jacob, 2 males 0-10, 1 male to 26, 1 male 45+, 2 females 0-10, 1 female to 45, 1 female 45+, 23 slaves."
At the time of his death he owned slaves Adah, Sarah, Rachel Patience, Mary, Shadrack, Patience & child Amey, & Siner (Miles 53).
On 30 November 1815 an inventory and audit of the estate of Jacob Bird of Jacob was returned to court (Miles 63). The Inventory and Audit of his estate was recorded. The record reads : Negroes Adah, Sarah, Rachel Patience, Mary, Shadrack, Patience & child Amey, & Siner. Appraiser: George Wise, Elijah A. White & John Leatherbury. Cash to Polly Bird for keeping Sarah and Children & Ebern Bird. Auditors: Issac Smith, & William P. Moore."
She married third Samuel H. Maddox circa 1813 in Accomack Co., VA. Samuel was born circa 1778. He had first married Amelia Silverthorne on 29 March 1803 in Somerset Co, MD (Pollitt 93). The record reads: "Maddox, Samuel to Silverthorne, Amelia, on 29 March 1803."
He married third Mary McDaniel on 24 December 1829 in Somerset Co, MD (Pollitt 94). The record reads: "Maddux, Samuel H., to McDaniel, Mary, on 24 December 1829."
Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census in Accomack Co., VA (Powell 138). The census reads: Maddox, Samuel 1 male 0-10, 10 male 10-16, 1 male 26 to 45, 1 male 26 to 45.

As Mary, the wife of Samuel H. Maddox, she was mentioned in court on 1 June 1821 in Accomack Co., VA (Land Causes). The court case reads:
Custis & wife - vs - Partition Suit - Rodgers &c. That a certain Jacob Bird late of this county departed this life intestate on the __ day of __ 1813, leaving four children viz: your oratrix Malinda Custis, now the wife of William Custis, Jacob, Elizabeth & Ebern Bird, and also leaving a widow Polly, now the wife of a certain Samuel H. Madox; that the said Jacob Bird at the time of his death was seized in his own right in fee simple of two tracts of land situate near the New Church containing 200 acres and the other situate near the head of Onancock containing 110 acres, which tracts of land descended to his four children aforesaid subject to the dower of his said widow; that since the death of the said Jacob Bird his widow Polly has married a certain Samuel H. Madox, who by deed dated __ conveyed to a certain William T. Rodgers all the right of dower of said Polly in the aforesaid land &c.

3 ii. Malinda Bird was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1803. She married William Custis on 27 March 1820 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman 76). The marriage record reads: "William Custis of Henry to Malinda Bird on 27 March 1820. Consent of John G. Joynes guardian. Thomas R. Joynes security." William was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1784. William was the son of Henry Custis and Polly his wife. See household 27. William Custis was the plaintiff in a court case 1 June 1821 in Accomack Co., VA (Land Causes). The court case reads: "Custis & wife - vs - Partition Suit - Rodgers &c. Circa 1821 William and Malinda had Margaret S. Custis of Wm in Accomack Co., VA. Circa 1821 Malinda and William Custis had Margaret S. Custis in Accomack Co., VA.
4 iii. Jacob Bird was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1805. Jacob Bird of Jacob was mentioned in court 1 June 1821 in Accomack Co., VA (Land Causes). The court case reads: "Custis & wife - vs - Partition Suit - Rodgers &c."
5 iv. Elizabeth Bird was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1807. She married Custis Kellam on 14 April 1825 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman 151). The record reads: "Custis Kellam, widower, to Elizabeth Bird, orphan of Jacob, consent of John G. Joynes guardian on 14 April 1825. Richard Bull Jr. security." Custis was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1808.

6 v. Ebern Bird was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1811. He married Maria Wyatt on 28 March 1836 in Accomack Co., VA. Maria was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1811.
