[A73] 1651 - The history of this tract seems to begin with a vague patent to Robert Bayly for 200 acres, but no deposition by him was found. 1661 - Patent to James Kine for 500 acres to include the above and 300 acres next to it. Two years later he assigned it to John Macell. This man later became known as John Michael. (See the discussion of John Michael here). A later, undated patent to John, Sarah and Margaret Michael by "Macell" was obtained. This called for two separate lots containing 500 acres each. The women were the daughters of John Michael, and Sarah had married John Custis. 1727 - Charles Snead (wife Catherine) left to his son John the 500 acres. In 1785 this land was still owned by the Snead family. The other 500 acre lot went to Margaret Michael who married Captain Argoll Yardley and in 1673 he sold this to John Wise. (See the paper on the Yardley family by Thomas Teackle Upshur here.)
