Elizabeth Bradford daughter of Zephaniah Bradford and Elizabeth his wife
(Whitelaw, p. 771), was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1782. She married twice.
She married John Garrison as his second wife circa 1800. John was born circa 1755.
John died before 29 January 1810 Miles & Miles Wills, p. 221). John and
his first wife had the following children: i. John W. Garrison born circa 1782; Samuel
Garrison born circa 1784; Catherine Garrison born circa 1787. John made a will on
19 December 1809 in Accomack Co., VA. It was probated 29 January 1810 (Miles & Miles
Wills, p. 221). An abstract of his will reads:
GARRISON, JOHN
- 19 December 1809 - 29 January 1810 - Friend James Garrison Extr. To son John Garrison
130 acres a part of the land I now live on, on the side adjoining Frederick Floyd.
Wife should have no thirds in the land before given only in the houses & yard. Wife
Elizabeth Garrison all my lands not before given, to bring up & school my 4 young
daughters Elizabeth Garrison, Peggy Garrison, Charlotte Garrison, & Meria Garrison.
To wife Negro man Caliss & woman Adar & ... to take old man Sias & maintain him.
To daughter Caty Garrison Negro boys Isaac & George & woman Juda. To grandson William
Garrison ... To 4 daughters [named above] the land after wife's death or marriage.
To daughter Charlotte Negro woman Adar. To daughter Meria Negro man Caliss. Remainder
to be sold & to son Samuel Garrison Witt: Thomas A Bradford, George S. Savage, &
James Garrison. Prob: Howson Mapp. Thomas Bagwell & George S. Savage securities.
Elizabeth married second John Mears on 11 March 1813 in Accomack Co.,
VA (Turman Marriages, p. 194). The text reads: Mears, John of Richard / Elizabeth
Garrison, widow of John; 11 March 1813; John Mears of John security. John was born
circa 1780. Whitelaw states:

1790 Zephaniah Bradford died intestate
leaving a wife Elizabeth and five children. Two years later the land was surveyed
for a division and found to contain 430 acres of upland and 108 acres of Marsh; it
was divided among the five children . . .
Elizabeth Bradford was mentioned
in a survey taken on 27 May 1792 (Survey, p. 205). The text reads:
By
virtue of an Order of the Worshipful Court of Accomack County bearing date March
1892 - I Parker Barnes D. Surveyor of the sd County have on the 27th and 28th day
of May 1792 with the sherif of sd County and a Jury impaneled for the purpose of
dividing the land of Zephaniah Bradford which land do lie in the Parish of St. Geo.
and County aforsd in the lower end of Bradfords Neck adjoining the lands of the late
Abel Upshur Decd and are bounded as follows (towit) On the N. E. By the lands Argil
Kellam late of Thos Bradford on the N.W. by Matchapungo Creek on the S. W. by Upshur
Neck and on the S. E. by the Bay shore for the Courses, Distances, Plat and Divisions
see below.

John Garrison, William Polk, John B. Upshur, Thomas Bradford, Zorobable Kellam Orphan,
Elizabeth Bradford Orphan, Abel Bradford Orphan, Janet Bradford, Esther Bradford
Orphan, John Mears, & Abel Upshur's heirs, Jediah Bell, William Ward, Thos H. Bradford,
Levi Long, George Hyslop, John Mears, Kendal Bradford, John Harman, John Garrison,
Edmd Read, William Polk, John Bell, Thos Bradford present
Elizabeth
Bradford was mentioned in court on 27 September 1831 in Accomack Co., VA. An abstract
reads:
Abel Bradford, soldier in the Revolutionary War, died without
issue, leaving one brother named Zephania Bradford, who died leaving 5 children:
Mary, Jane, Abel, Betsey and Esther. Mary Bradford married John Mears (K) and is
dead leaving seven children; Abel Mears, Elizabeth Mears, Mary Downing, wife of John,
John Mears (K) James Mears William Mears and Robert Mears. Betsey Bradford married
John Mears of Richard, died leaving three children: Elizabeth Barnes, Widow of William,
Charlotte Bell wife of James and Frederick Mears. Esther Bradford married Littleton
Lecato and died leaving four children: Nathaniel Lecato, William Lecato and Littleton
Lecato. Jane Bradford married John Bundick and is living, Abel Bradford is living.
The aforesaid issue of Zephaniah Bradford are the only heirs of said Abel Bradford.
Elizabeth Bradford and John Garrison no father had the following children:
1. Maria Garrison was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1801. Maria died in
1810.
2. Margaret Garrison of John was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1803.
3. Elizabeth Garrison was born in Accomack Co., VA on 4 February 1805. She
married William Barnes on 13 December 1827. William was born circa 1802.

Charlotte Garrison was born in Accomack Co., VA on 12 Nov 1807. She married James
H. Bell on 8 January 1827 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman Marriages, p. 23).
The text reads: Bell, James H. of Geodiah / Charlotte Garrison, orphan of John; 8
January 1827; George H. Bell security. James was born in Accomack Co., VA on 10 March
1805 (Mihalyka Graven, p. 19). James was the son of Geodiah Bell and Catherine Harman. James died on 19 August 1840
(Mihalyka Graven, p.12).
Elizabeth Bradford and John Mears had the
following child:
5. Frederick Mears was born circa 1815. He died before 28
March 1853 (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 267).
