Custis Willis, son of Zerobabel Willis (Whitelaw, 794), was born
on 21 March 1766 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). Custis died on 8 October 1815 (Willis
Bible 1733-1877). He married twice. He married Bridget Mapp 26 September 1790 (Willis
Bible 1733-1877). Bridget was born on 12 November 1762 (Mapp Bible 1733-1880). Bridget
was the daughter of Howson Mapp and Elizabeth Thomas (Mapp Bible 1733-1880). Bridget
died on 20 August 1811 (Mapp Bible 1733-1880). In Howson Mapp will on 25 March 1796
in Accomack Co., VA, Bridget was named as an heir. It was probated 28 January 1799
(Nottingham Wills, p 458). An Abstract of his will reads:
MAPP,
HOWSON, SR. - 25 Mar. 1796 - 28 Jan. 1799 - To wife Betty Mapp whole estate during
her widow to bring up my children. To my son Howson Mapp, my heir at law, all my
lands, he to pay to Hester Mapp, Peggy Mapp, George Mapp, Robins Mapp & John Mapp
20 pounds each, & should he refuse my land to be sold & divided among my children.
To son George Mapp. To son Robins. To son John. To daughter Hester. To daughter Peggy.
To daughter Bridget Willis. To daughter Salley Downing. "and what Custis Willis &
John Downing has had of me not to be mentioned". Wife Betty & son Howson Exrs. Witt:
Smith Hyslip, Kendal Hyslop.
He married Polly Fitchett on 26 April 1812
in Northampton Co., VA (Mihalyka Marriages, p. 130). The record reads: Willis,
Custis to Polly Fitchett 26 April 1812; Peter Bowdoin security; m. (1812) by J. Elliott.
Polly was born circa 1790.
On on 4 January 1796 in Accomack Co., VA, the
boundaries of the lands of Custis Willis were processioned (Walczyk Processions,
p. 6). The Procession reads:
Jany 4th - The Lands of Thomas Parker,
Custis Willis, John Beechs heirs, Ephraim Watson, John Watson, Kendal Harman,
John Nock and George Nock. Custis Willis, Ephraim Watson, Kendal Harman, John Nock,
George Nock, Jno Walker Senr, Robt Guy Senr Abel Mears, John Harman, John Downing,
Kendal Richardson, William Bell, & the processioners.

Zorobabel Willis part
1801 - He [Zorobabel]
died intestate and was succeeded by a son Custis Willis. He also died intestate and
it became necessary to sell his land, so it was surveyed in 1816 and found to contain
168 acres . . .
Custis Willis and Bridget Mapp had the following children:
1. James Willis was born on 29 June 1791 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). James
died on 13 September 1812 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
2. Zorobabel Willis was
born on 12 August 1792. (Willis Bible 1733-1877).Zorobabel died on 5 January 1842
(Willis Bible 1733-1877). He married Ann Spiers on 4 September 1816 (Willis Bible
1733-1877). Ann died on 26 July 1851(Willis Bible 1733-1877). Both Zorobabel and
Ann Willis were buried in a family plot at Grangeville (Near Keller) (Mihalyka Graven,
p. xxvi). See: Mount Willis
Zorobabel made a will on 22 November 1841
in Accomack Co., VA. It was probated 14 January 1842 (Miles & Miles Wills,
p. 613). An abstract of his will reads:
WILLIS, ZOROBABEL 22 November
1841 / 31 January 1842 - To my wife Ann C. Willis all the land I got by her in marriage
& the land I purchased of Mary Ashby during her life & also slaves Negro Henry, by
my wife paying my slave Henry $6 annually for 10 years from my death & my Negro woman
Liddy & her youngest child & my girl Ibby & ... & the privilege of getting firewood
off the part of my land hereafter given to my sons Edward & John H. Willis & the
privilege of getting pine log timber off the land hereafter given to my son Robert
T. Willis. The foregoing loan is in lieu of dower out of the residue of my land &
slave, but no bar against dower out of the residue of my personal estate. To son
James C. Willis all the lands I purchased of William Dunton adjoining the land of
Garrison Burton & others & my interest in a petty-anger called the Eagle, ... & at
the death of my wife all the land to the N. E. of the Neck road including the houses
where I now live & adjoining Solomon Bunting, that is to say all my land between
the Neck road & the creek & at the death of my wife My Negro boy Henry & ... To son
Edward L Willis the land I purchased at my father's sale where my dwelling & house
& store is lying to the S. W. of a slipped locust nearly opposite of William Chance
house ... until it strikes the lands of John Harmon (of K.). To my son Robert T.
Willis the balance of the land purchased at my father's sale adjoining the lands
heretofore given to my son Edward T. Willis & the land of Levin W. Nock on the north
& east. To my son John H. Willis all the land I hold lying to S. & W. of the county
road it being a part of the plantation where I now live to include the land I purchased
of James J. Teackle, Nathaniel Bradford & the heirs of Thomas Moore decd. The residue
of my slaves to my 7 children James C. Willis, Tabitha A. Nock, Margaret E., Edward
L. Mary F.. Robert T. and John H. Willis. To my daughter Margaret E. William ...
My part of the store should be carried on in the firm of Z. & C. Willis until my
son Edward L. Willis arrives at age 21 & for my brother Custis Willis to live where
he now lives on my land until such arrival provided my said brother furnish my son
Edward L. Willis with his board, washing & lodging in lieu of rent of the aforesaid
houses. My son Edward L. Willis is to have $70 per annum for his wages as a clerk
in the aforesaid firm until he arrives to lawful age to be paid to him out of my
estate to be drawn from the store. Residue after wife's dower to my daughters Tabitha
A. Nock, Margaret E. Willis, Mary F. Willis & my son Robert T. Willis which is not
to include the slaves loaned to wife. At the death of my wife all the slaves loaned
to here to my children excluding my son James C. Willis. My brother Custis Willis
to be guardian of all my children who are minors until they come to lawful age. Witt:

Zorobabel Willis
and Ann Spiers had the following children: i. James C. Willis was born on 11 July
1817 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). James died 25 August 1853 (Willis Bible 1733-1877);
ii. Tabitha Ann Willis was born 25 January 1819 (Willis Bible 1733-1877); iii. Margaret
E. Willis born circa 1820 (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 613); iv. Edward Littleton
Willis was born on 25 December 1822 (Willis Bible 1733-1877); v. Mary Finney Willis
was born on 29 October 1825 (Willis Bible 1733-1877); vi. Robert Thomas Willis on
30 December 1829 (Willis Bible 1733-1877); vii. John Howsen Willis was born on 17
June 1832 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
3. Ezra V. Willis was born on 16 August
1794 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
4. Littleton Willis was born in Accomack Co.,
VA on 5 July 1796 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). Littleton died on 28 August 1856 (Willis
Bible 1733-1877). He married twice. He married Mary Ann Beach on 13 September 1826
in Accomack Co., VA (Willis Bible 1733-1877). Mary was the daughter of Ezekiel Beach and Anna his wife. Mary died on 3 January 1832
(Willis Bible 1733-1877). Littleton and Mary Willis were buried in a family plot
between Wachapregue and Chancetown (Mihalyka Graven, p. xxvi). NOTE: The
date on the stone of Mary Willis 3 February 1832 (299).
On 29 April
1839 administration on the estate of Mary Ann Beach Willis was granted to
Littleton Willis. Albe R. Harmon & Zerobabel Willis securities. (Miles & MilesWills,
p. 613). Littleton married Sarah W. Coleburn on 22 December 1830 (Willis
Bible 1733-1877). Sarah was born circa 1799. Sarah died on 29 June 1877 (Willis
Bible 1733-1877).
On 29 September 1856 the estate of Littleton Willis was
granted to Custis M. Dunton. Custis Willis Edward L. Willis & Joseph R. Westcott
securities (Miles & MilesWills, p. 612).
Littleton Willis and Mary
Ann Beach had the following child: i. Elizabeth C. Willis was born in Accomack Co.,
VA on 17 July 1827(Willis Bible 1733-1877). She married Custis M. Dunton on 9 November
1852 in Accomack Co., VA (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
Littleton Willis and Sarah
W. Coleburn had the following children: ii. Mollie Beach Willis was born in Accomack
Co., VA on 4 December 1831, Mollie died on 10 September 1832; iii. Littleton Thomas
Willis was born in Accomack Co., VA on 7 April 1836, Littleton died on 7 July 1864
(Willis Bible 1733-1877).
5. Patience Taylor Willis was born on 14 January
1800 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
6. Custis Willis was born in Accomack Co.,
VA on 24 June 1801 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). He married Sally Harmon on 18 October
1826 in Accomack Co., VA (Willis Bible 1733-1877). Sally was born in Accomack Co.,
VA on 14 February 1800 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).

Harmon had the following children: i. Ann Eliza Willis was born on 15 March 1827.
ii. Emily Patience Taylor Willis was born on 1 January 1831; iii. Hugh James Willis
on 30 December 1831; iv. Susan Custis Willis was born on 20 February 1833; v. Zerobabel
Littleton Custis Willis was born on 25 September 1835; vi. George Smith Willis was
born on 15 November 1840; vii. Franklin Willis of Custis was born in 1845. viii.
Edgar Willis was born in Accomack Co., VA in 1849 (Willis Bible 1733-1877).
Custis
Willis and Polly Fitchett had the following child: 7. James Willis was
born on 14 May 1814 (Willis Bible 1733-1877). James died on 5 July 1816 (Willis Bible
1733-1877).
