Elias Dunton Joynes, son of Reuben Joynes and Margaret Dunton was born circa 1782. He was named for his grandfather Elias Dunton. (See household 15 in Procession District 11.)
On 16 March 1808. Elias married Jane Smith. She was the daughter of John Smith and Sarah Parker. (See household 1 in Procession District 11.)
The record reads: Joynes, Elias to Jane Smith 16 March 1808. Stephen Warrington security (Turman 146). Jane died after the birth of their first son, Thomas S. Joynes.
Elias Dunton Joynes was listed as a Corporal and served 1 months 6 days for the years 1813 and 1814 in the War of 1812. He was enlisted in the the Company of Levin S. Joynes, Second Regiment of Virginia Militia, Accomack County commanded by Col. Thomas M. Bayly.

3. Elias Dunton Joynes son of Elias Dunton Joynes and Margaret Smith was born in Accomack Co., VA on 20 October 1816 (Graven Stones 141). He was the second with that name.
Family legend states that he was crushed while taking a boat from the water.
He married Sarah S. Boggs about 12 August 1837 in Worcester County, MD. A license was obtained (Worcester Marriages 71). The license reads, Elisha Joynes and Sarah Boggs. Family legend states that they ran away to Maryland to get married.
Sarah was born in Accomack Co., VA on 3 April 1820 (Graven Stones 142). Sarah was the daughter of James S. Boggs and Elizabeth Parker Rodgers Sarah died on 21 September 1871. She was buried in the Rodgers-Boggs Plot W of Cashville (143).
Sarah was listed in the household of Elias Dunton Joynes on the 1850 Census in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack 1850 Census 66). In Elizabeth Parker Rodgers Boggs' will on 22 April 1856 in Accomack Co., VA, Sarah was named as an heir. It was proved 30 May 1859. (Accomack County Wills 1846-1882 146). Her will reads:
In the name of God amen I Elizabeth P. Boggs do make and ordain this instrument of writing as and for my las will and testament in manner and form following viz Item: First I give and devise to my two sons Levi R. Boggs and James A. M. Boggs my tract of land containing one hundred and sixty acres it being the land devised to me my father Levi Rodgers on condition that they shall pay to my three daughters viz Sally S. Joynes, the wife of Elias D. Joynes, Elizabeth M. Bayly, the wife of Thomas Bayly, and Georgianna C. Smith, the wife of James Smith each the sum of five hundred and sixty dollars, and if they take the said land I do hereby charge the same with the payment of the said several sums to my three daughters - I mean that my two sons Levi and James together shall pay to my three daughters the said sum of five hundred and sixty dollars as above desired. Item Second: I give to my son James A. M. Boggs my riding carriage. Item Third: The residue of my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children viz Levi R., James A. M. Sally S. Joynes, Elizabeth M. Bayly and Georgianna C. Smith - And lastly I do hereby appoint my two sons Levi R. and James A. M. Boggs executors to this my last will and testament - In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the twenty second of April eighteen hundred and fifty six.

Elias was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Accomack Co., VA (1840 Census 52). An abstract reads: Elias Joynes 1 male 20- 30, 1 female 0-5, 1 female 15-20, 2 slaves.
He was a carpenter and in 1842 he was awarded the contract to build a new Church on Tangier Island (Swain 9). Elias Dunton Joynes gave the sucurity for the marriage of Revell Evans and Christiana Joynes on 22 May 1848 (Turman 97). The bond reads Revel Evans to marry Christina Joynes, Elias D. Joynes surity.

Elias was listed as one of James H. Addison's nearest neighbors on the 1850 Census in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack 1850 Census 66). Elizabeth Parker Rodgers Boggs mentions Elias Dunton Joynes in her will 30 May 1859 in Accomack Co., VA. It was proved 30 May 1859. (Accomack County Wills 1846-1882 146).

Elias died on 27 October 1867. Elias Dunton Joynes and his wife Sally (Sarah) are buried at the Boggs-Rodgers Cemetery.

1. Sally A.Joynes was born in Accomack Co., VA on 21 July 1838 (Commonwealth of Virginia Death Certificate). Sally died on 4 January 1934. The cause of death was general dibility. She married Henry C. Drummond on 8 August 1864 in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack Co. Marriages 1854-1896 122). Henry was born in Accomack Co., VA on 18 August 1831 (Drummond Family Bible). Henry was the son of James Drummond and Harriet Kellam. Henry died on 14 November 1908. interment was at Onancock Cemetery (Drummond Family Bible).

Thomas married twice. He married Sarah J. Moore on 14 December 1864 in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack Co. Marriages, 1854-1896 186 ). The marriage record reads: Thomas S. Joynes 24 carpenter, Single, son of Elias and Sally to Sarah J. Moore 26 Single, daughter of William & Ginney license 14 December 1864, married 14 December 1864 at Accomack.
Sarah was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1840. Sarah was the daughter of William Moore and Jane S. Boggs Sarah died on 25 September 1871. (Accomack County Death Register 83). The death record reads: Joynes, Sarah J., w/f, 25 Sep 1871 in Lee Dist., consumption, 31yrs, c/o Moore, Wm. & Moore, Jane born in ACC, wife of Joynes, Thos., Father g/info.

3. Emma V. Joynes was born in Accomack Co., VA on 15 September 1847 (Graven Stones 29). Emma died on 6 March 1910. She was buried at Onancock Cemetery, Onancock VA (26). She was buried in Onancock Cemetery, Onancock.
She married three times. She married George E. Waters on 2 March 1871 in Accomack Co., VA. It was a religious ceremony at Andrew's Chapel (Accomack Co. Marriages, 1854-1896 343). George was born in Accomack Co., VA on 17 July 1846 (Graven Stones 284). George died on 13 November 1873. Interment was in Boggs Burial Ground (284).
She married Robert Smith Drummond on 3 December 1877 in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack Co. Marriages 1854-1896 124). Robert was born in Accomack Co., VA on 22 September 1832 (Graven Stones 75; Drummond Family Bible). Robert was the son of James Drummond and Harriet Kellam. He first married Susan A. Boggs on 31 December 1856 in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack Co. Marriages 1854-1896 :124). Robert died 11 September 1896 (Death Register 50). The Death Register reads: Drummond, Robt. S., W/m, 11 Sep 1896, Acc, paralysis, 64yr c/o Jas. & Harriet, farmer, h/o Emma. Wife g/info. Interment was in the Drummond Plot.
She married Littleton T. Boggs on 4 October 1905 in Accomack Co., VA (Accomack Co. Marriages 1854-1896 59). Littleton was born in Accomack Co., VA on 2 September 1838 (Graven Stones 28). Littleton died on 31 August 1924. He was buried in Onancock Cemetery, Onancock.

3. Margaret T. Joynes was born on 11 October 1819 (Mihalyka 141). She was married three times. She first married Arthur C. White. He was born on 6 June 1822. Arthur died on on 14 September 1859. She married second Thomas K. Dunton 11 November 1863. He was born on 16 April 1804. He died on on 1 June 1865. He was buried at Vaucluse. Her third and last husband, Edward Dunton Joynes, on 3 November 1875. He was her cousin. He was born on 14 September 1812. He died on 18 March 1891 (Mihalyka 141). Margaret was his second wife. Margaret died on 8 August 1898 (Mihalyka 141). She had no children.
4. Pamelia Joynes was born on 20 June 1820 (Mihayka 68). She married Edward R. Custis. He was the son of Henry Custis and Tabitha West (Miles, & Miles Marriages 105). He died on 2 October 1891 (Mihayka 67). Pamelia died on 3 June 1892 (Mihalyka 68). They had two children: Thomas and Margaret Custis.
