James S. Boggs was born in Accomack Co., VA, on 26 July 1787 (Graven Stones 29). He was the son of John S. Boggs and Margaret Smith.(SEE: John Boggs.
James died on 27 March 1855. He was buried in the Rodgers - Boggs Plot west of Cashville, VA (29). His stone reads: "James Boggs, husband of Elizabeth P., son of John S. Boggs and Margaret his wife, 26 July 1787 - 27 March 1855." (See the Rodgers-Boggs Cemetery) He married Elizabeth Parker Rodgers about 28 June 1819 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman 34). Elizabeth was born in Accomack Co., VA, on 6 October 1791 (Graven Stones 29). Elizabeth was the daughter of Levi Rodgers and Sarah Scarburgh. She was the niece of Bennett Scarburgh and George Scarburgh. Elizabeth died on 26 April 1859. She was buried in the Rodgers- Boggs Plot west of Cashville VA (29). Her stone reads: "Elizabeth P. Boggs, wife of James, daughter of Levi & Sarah Rodgers, 6 October 1791-26 Arpil 1859.In Bennett Scarburgh's will on 14 May 1799 in Accomack Co., VA, Elizabeth was named as an heir. It was probated 28 October 1799 (Nottingham 462). An abstract reads, "To niece Elizabeth Parker Rodgers $200.00 to be raised of my estate to be paid her by my Exr. when she reaches the age of 18 years, and should she die before she is 18 to my brother George Scarburgh. To friend Solomon Smith my watch. Brother George resid. legatee and Exr. Witt: William Kennahorn, John Brittingham."
In Levi Rodgers' will on 12 March 1818 in Accomack Co., VA, Elizabeth was named as an heir. It was probated 28 June 1819 (Accomack Wills 1818-1819 373).
Elizabeth made a will on 22 April 1856 in Accomack Co., VA. It was probated 30 May 1859. (Accomack Wills 1846-1882: 146.) Her will reads:
In the name of God amen I Elizabeth P. Boggs do make and ordain this instrument of writing as and for my last will and testament in manner and form following viz
Item: First I give and devise to my two sons Levi R. Boggs and James A. M. Boggs my tract of land containing one hundred and sixty acres it being the land devised to me by my father Levi Rodgers on condition that they shall pay to my three daughters viz Sally S. Joynes, the wife of Elias D. Joynes, Elizabeth M. Bayly, the wife of Thomas Bayly, and Georgiana C. Smith, the wife of James Smith each the sum of five hundred and sixty dollars, and if they take the said land I do hereby charge the same with the payment of the said several sums to my three daughters - I mean that my two sons Levi and James together shall pay to my three daughters the said sum of five hundred and sixty dollars as above desired.
Item Second: I give to my son James A. M. Boggs my riding carriage. Item Third: The residue of my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children viz Levi R., James A. M., Sally S. Joynes, Elizabeth M. Bayly and Georgiana C. Smith - And lastly I do hereby appoint my two sons Levi R. and James A. M. Boggs executors to this my last will and testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the twenty second of April eighteen hundred and fifty six.
In his mother Margaret's will on 25 January 1823 in Accomack Co., VA, James was named as an heir. It was probated 26 April 1824 (Accomack Wills 1823-1824: 537).
Between 1813 and 1814 he served 2 months 21 days as a Private in the 2 Regiment of the Virginia Militia under John G. Joynes (Militia: 315).
In Kendall Ames' will on 27 June 1839 in Accomack Co., VA, James was named as an heir. It was probated 25 November 1850 (Miles & Miles Wills: 6).
James S. Boggs and Elizabeth had the following children:
1. Sally S. Boggs was born in Accomack Co., VA on 3 April 1820 (Mihalyka Graven: 142). Sarah was the daughter of James S. Boggs and Elizabeth Parker Rodgers Sarah died on 21 September 1871. She married Elias D. Joynes about 12 August 1837 in Worcester County, MD. A license was obtained (Worcester Marriages 71). The license reads "Elisha Joynes and Sarah Boggs." 2. Levi Rodgers Boggs was born in Accomack Co., VA on 6 January 1825 (Mihalyka Graven: 30). Levi died on 5 November 1911. (Mihalyka Graven: 30). He is buried in the Rodgers Cemetery (Mihalyka Graven: 30). (See his stone here.)
He married Hester Adelaide Mapp on 5 January 1854 in Accomack Co., VA. Hester was born on 17 June 1832. Hester died on 15 November 1899. (See her grave marker here.)
She was the daughter of George S. Mapp and Catherine C. Ames (Wise : 244).Levi Rodgers Boggs and Hester Adelaide Mapp had the following children:
i. Elizabeth C. Boggs born in Accomack Co., VA on 4 November 1854. (Walczyk Births: 15). She married William Taylor on 1 August 1878 Miles & Miles Marriages: 324). She died from consumption on 27 Apr 1886 (Walczyk Deaths: 151).

He married Kate A. Rayfield on 22 January 1879 in Accomack Co., VA (Miles & Miles Marriages: 58). The record reads: "Henry R. 21 Single, Merchant, born in Accomac, living in Accomac, son of Levi R. and Hester Boggs to Kate A. Rayfield, daughter of James T. & Sally A. on 22 January 1879 at Slutkill Neck by Rev. S. C. Boston." Kate was born in Accomack Co., VA in 1858 (Mihalyka Graven: 29). Kate died in 1948 (29). 3. Elizabeth M. Boggs was born circa 1827. She married Thomas S. Bayly on 6 December 1854 at Accomack Co, VA. He was born on 15 June 1830 at Accomack Co, VA (Miles & Miles Marriages: 45). Thomas S. Bayly and Elizabeth M. Boggs had the following children:
i. Anna J. 'Annie' Bayly was born circa 1856.
