In the name of God Amen I Thomas Crippen pf Accomack
County calling to mind to make this my last Will and Testament revoking all former
Wills made before me first I recommend my soul to the hands of Almighty God who gave
Secondly my body to be buried in a Christian like manner and thirdly what worldly
goods it hast please Almighty God to bless me with in form and manner following Impremis
I lend the Plantation whereon I know live to my loving Wife Anne Crippen during her
natural life or Widowhood provided she will and doth maintain bring up and well school
my four Small Children I likewise give to my loving Wife Anne Crippen my black horse
and riding Chair --- Item I give to my son Samuel Crippen my Water grist Mill to
him and to his heirs forever I likewise give to my said son Samuel Crippen thirty
acres of Land joining said Mill called and known by the name of Little neck beginning
at the Land of William Young Northerly and running down the Branch and Mill pond
to the Creek Easterly to the mouth of a Gut and then up said Gut till it comes to
the Branch and there up said Branch to the land of said William Young again which
said Land be the same more or less I give to my son Samuel Crippen and his heirs
forever --- I give to my son Thomas Crippen all that Tract of land whereon I now
live except the above thirty Acres as before given which said tract of Land containing
by estimation three hundred and thirty Seven Acres I give to my son Thomas Crippen
and to his heirs lawfully begotten of his Body for ever and if my son Thomas should
die without such heirs & then give the above said three hundred and thirty Seven
acres of land to my son Samuel Crippen and to his heirs forever I give to my son
Thomas Crippen my watch and all my wearing apparel also my Mahogany Desk and Book
Case and my Cloths press I also give to my son Thomas Crippen a young mare called
his and Her both and my bay riding horse and three young Cows and Calves or with
Calf and Six likely Ewes and my best Wain and Wheels also three largest Silver Table
Spoons and on good middle Sized pewter Dish and twelve new pewter plates Item I give
to my son Savage Crippen my brandy Still and worm I also give to my son Savage Crippen
one young bay mare and her new Colt & one young horse three Years Old and three Young
Cows and Calves or with Calf and Six likely Ewes & also give to my son Savage Crippen
three largest Silver Spoons and one good middle Sized pewter Dish and twelve men
pewter plates Item I give to my son James Crippen thirty pounds in Specie Item I
give to my Daughter Esther Crippen thirty pounds in Specie my desire is that in my
Wife shoud die before my four small Children be Schooled and brought up that my son
Thomas Crippen school them well and bring them up without charge in them which if
refuses to do my desire is that this plantation whereon I now live be rented out
for that purpose until it be compleated and after all y just Debts are paid I give
all the remainder of my Estate to be equally Divided between my loving Wife Anne
Crippen and my three small Children Viz: Esther Samuel and James Crippen I constitute
and appoint my liveing Wife Anne Crippen and my Friend Daniel Mifflin and my son
Thomas Crippen Executrix and Executors of this my las Will and Testament I desire
that my friends Wm. White, Parker Barnes and Thomas Evans may appraise and divide
my Estate agreeable to my preceeding Will In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set
my hand and Seal this Seventh day of November in the year of our lord One thousand
Seven Hundred and Eighty two ---

At
a Court held in Accomack County Jany 28 1783 --- This Will was roved by the Oaths
of all the subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded and on the Motion
of Anne Crippen Thomas Crippen & Daniel Mifflin the executors taking oath and giving
Edward Ker and Benjamin Peck for their Securities certificate is granted them for
obtaining a probate thereof in due form
