Last Will and Testament of George Drummond 9 May 1765 - Transcribed by Gail M. Walczyk

In the name of God amen I George Drummond of Accomack county in Virginia being at present sick of body but of sound and disposing Memory do Make and Ordain this to be my last will and Testament But first and Chiefly Precommend my soul into the hands of Almighty god and my Body I resign to the Dust to be Buried in a Decent Manner at the discretion of my Executors

Imprimis It is my will and Desire that all my just Debts be Honestly paid

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Drummond and to his heirs and assigns forever all my land and Plantation at Accomack county Court House wher I now live And my Land at Back Creek on the Bayside I give to my said son and to his heirs & Assigns forever

Item it is my will and Desire, and I give and bequeath to my Daughter Anne Drummond and to her heirs amd assigns forever all my Land & Interest of any Lands I have at Messongo Creek in the siad County

Item It is my Desire, And I would have my Will so Understood that in Case my said Two children should Dye without Issue amd under the age of Twenty One Years that then my Land at the Court House shall go to George Drummond the son of my Brother William and his heirs and assigns, And my Land at Back Creek shall go and belong to Richard Drummond the son of my Brother Spencer and, and to his Heirs and Assigns forever, But it is my Will that upon either of my childrens Dying under age,and without issue the Survivor of them Shall Inherit the part given to the deced

Item I give and bequeath unto my Mother Anne Buncle During her Natural life, any one of my Negroes She shall Choose and Also the Use of my Negro Girl Rachel During the time my said Daughter afsd Shall live with her said grandmother To nurse my said Daughter I also give my said Mother my Riding Horse

Item all the Rest of my Estate not above disposed of Including the reversion of my slaves given my Mother I give my said Children Richard and Anne Drummond to be Equally Divided between them All all Perishable Goods which may be the Worse of wearing I Desire may be sold by my Executors and the Money put to Use for the Benifit of my said Children,

Lastly I do hereby Nominate & appoint my Brother William Drummond and my Friend James Henry Executors of this my Will In Testemony whereof I have Hereto affixed my Hand and Seal this 9th Day of May 1765

At a court held for Accomack County November 25th 1766 The within last Will and Testament of George Drummond Deced was Presented and Proved by the Oath of David Bowman and John Powell Two of the witnessess there to and Admitted to Record and On the Motion of William Drummond One of the Exors therein named taking the Oath and giving William Taylor & Smith Snead for his security who entered into and acknowledged a Bond for that Purpose Certificate is Granted him for Obtaining a Probate thereof in due form
