Last Will and Testament of Isaac Foxcroft - 7 June 1698 - Transcribed by Frank V. Walczyk

In the name of God Amen, I Isaac Foxcroft of Northampton County being as it pleaseth God sick and weak of body but perfect in memory, thanks be to Almighty God for it and knowing that all men are born to die when it shall please God to call do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First - I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God my creator who gave it me hopeing and no ways doubting through the precious blood of my dear Saviour Jesus Christ to have and receive eternal joy and felicity after I am delivered from the burden of this flesh and be made part also of that heavenly call of, Come ye blessed receive the Kingdom prepaared for you from the begining of the world. And my body I give and bequeath to its original mother the earth from whence it came desireing a decent and Christian burial at the discreation of my Executrix.

I do hereby make, appoint and ordain my dear and loving wife Bridget Foxcroft my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament denying and revolking all other wills and bequeaths by me heretofore made and own this and no other to be my last will and testament.

Item - I give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Bridget aforesaid all my lands, Negros, merchandizes, bills, bonds and all my debts, goods, chattles of what nature or quality soever within doors or without, within the foresaid County of Northampton Dominions of Virginia or Maryland, Kingdom of England or any the Territorys there unto belonging.

Item - I give and bequeath to Michael Underhill son of Michael Underhill one cow and calf to have them at my decease.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of June and in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred ninty and eight.

November the 28th anno 1702, Then the last will and testament of Capt. Isaac Foxcroft deceased was presented to the court by Mrs. Bridget Foxcroft Exectrux thereof and proved in open court of the said county by the corporal oaths of John Harper and Margaret Copes and the comparison of the hand of Michael Underhill deceased the other evidence to the said will and the writer thereof and approved and allowed of by the court as an authentic probate and ordered to be recorded.
